Sector: Wind Farm
Expertise: Mobile Video Surveillance
Location: Sweden
Even in the most remote areas of Europe, our UFOs find their way. Currently, more than a dozen UFOs are positioned in the heavily forested area of southern Sweden. Because of the isolated area, we are working closely together with Q Security and supplier Siemens Gamesa.
Rabbalshede Kraft is developing two wind farms Femstenaberg and Lursäng. As the project’s Installation Lead for Siemens Gamesa, Mate Levente Bocsi is responsible for the safe and effective execution of the project. His company ordered 10 UFO Primes and 5 UFO Mediums combined with the hybrid powerbox. “I had a project before in the Netherlands where I met Kooi. That was smooth cooperation from all sides.” Now the UFOs are guarding the hardstands, the components, blades, tools, cranes and other expensive equipment.
The wind farm project, consisting of two wind farms with a total of 20 turbines, each standing 200 meters tall and having an installed power of 6.6 MW per turbine, is being developed independently by Rabbalshede Kraft. Siemens Gamesa has been tasked with supplying the turbines and overseeing expert installation. We have asked a Swedish security company to join as well. “Kooi provides the cameras which are connected to their alarm center. If the alarm goes off, our guard goes to the site to see what’s going on,” explains Karl-Johan Elf from Q Security. “If intruders are on-site we pick them up, if there are thieves we arrest them. So the UFOs are our sensors and we are the people who respond to them.”
The collaboration between the three parties has been successful in ensuring the safety and security of the wind farm project, which will produce electricity for about 35,000 Swedish households. Elf: “Femstenaberg and Lursäng have a large perimeter therefore the guard cannot have an overview of the whole area. So here the UFOs are activated and the stationary guard is on edge for action if an alarm goes off. There’s so much money involved in this project that we can’t have any delay. If someone steals the whole project stands still. It’s very important that the project goes on without issues.”
Our camera security solutions have been installed for a few months, and there have been no incidents on the sites so far, allowing partners to reflect on their UFO experience. Both Bocsi and Elf are satisfied with the quality and effectiveness of the guarding system. “What I like about the camera systems is the flexible setup and recorded activity when we are not there. So I’m really satisfied with them,” states Bocsi. Elf adds: “The UFOs are simple plug-and-play systems so after they are put into place the workers can install them single-handedly. They can also move them if necessary.” Both partners also use the 247Kooi app, which allows them to adjust working hours and activate the cameras at the end of the day.
