We are proud to announce an important milestone in our sustainability journey. Our climate targets have been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming that our ambitions are aligned with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement.

As part of this commitment, Kooi will achieve Net-Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 and reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 90% compared to our 2024 baseline.

Kooi is the first company in the temporary mobile surveillance sector to receive SBTi approval for such a target.

Turning ambition into action

For years, Kooi has been investing in solutions that reduce emissions while maintaining the reliability our customers depend on.

This includes:

  • Expanding the use of clean power solutions such as solar-powered and methanol-powered surveillance systems;
  • Accelerating the transition towards an electric vehicle fleet across Europe;
  • Reducing service kilometres through remote monitoring, diagnostics and maintenance;
  • Working together with suppliers and partners to reduce emissions throughout our value chain.

 Since 2022, we have reduced our carbon intensity by approximately 57%, demonstrating that business growth and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. At the same time, we achieved an absolute reduction in our CO footprint through cleaner power solutions, electrification, remote service capabilities and continuous operational improvements.

Looking beyond our own operations

Our SBTi commitment includes not only our direct emissions, but also emissions throughout our value chain. This means taking responsibility for the impact of our products, suppliers and logistics partners.

For example, we have started using Bluemint® Steel in parts of our product portfolio. Compared to conventional steel, this significantly reduces the carbon footprint of our surveillance units while maintaining the same quality and reliability standards our customers expect.

We are also working together with social enterprise Caparis on circular solutions. One of the projects currently being explored focuses on giving end-of-life solar panels a second life. Instead of treating these materials as waste, we are looking at opportunities to reuse valuable components and reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle.

A responsibility towards future generations

 As a European market leader in temporary mobile surveillance, we believe we have a responsibility to contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable future. The approval of our science-based target is an important milestone, but it is not the finish line. It is a commitment to continue reducing emissions across our operations and value chain on our path to Net-Zero.
