Wind Farm Krammer: the largest citizens' initiative in the Netherlands

In the spring of 2016, construction began on 34 wind turbines in Zeeland, which can supply more than 100,000 households with green electricity. This wind farm (Krammer) is unique because it is built on a primary water barrier. The Enercon E-115 wind turbines are equipped with a technology that temporarily shuts down the wind turbines when birds or bats are detected, or when a cast shadow occurs in homes.

In total, the Krammer wind farm will produce 350,000 Megawatt hours (MWh) annually. Each wind turbine will generate 3 MW. The number 115 refers to the rotor blade diameter of 115.7 metres. The axis height of the wind turbine is 122 metres and the tip height is about 180 metres. The wind farm was completed at the end of March 2019.
