Meet sales manager Manuel Jesus Lopez Sanchez. "I am the guy from RED," he smiles. Manuel is set to introduce heat-detection cameras to the Spanish market in his own unique way. "I am very straightforward. I don’t like to waste my time or others' time."
In several parts of Europe, the Rising Early Detection (RED) system is already a familiar sight at many recycling companies and waste processors. This advanced thermometric camera continuously monitors the temperature in waste storage facilities, providing the best solution to prevent fires. "Recent surveys show that in Spain, the number of fires is still increasing because of the high temperatures and increasing heatwaves," Manuel states.
Once the temperature rises above the set value, an alarm is triggered directly at the Kooi Alarm Center. The centralists monitor the images 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the control room. The coordinated alarm protocol prevents both direct and indirect damage by fire. Manuel says, “The RED is a very good product for the Spanish market. There are a lot of fires that find their cause in the heat and waste combined.”
Originally an engineer and chemical specialist, Manuel has mostly worked as a sales manager in technology, most recently at UE Systems in Almelo, the Netherlands. “There I helped companies implement a preventive maintenance plan based on ultrasound that involves energy savings, reduced downtime, and improved safety.” It was this last aspect where Kooi and Manuel found common ground.
Based in Sevilla, Manuel is now tasked with conquering the Spanish market with the RED. Chasing leads and visiting construction sites will be his daily routine. “There’s nothing like our RED, so it’s a good moment to start,” Manuel smiles. “I am a very committed and methodical person who likes things to go right. And I am honest and not scared to start from scratch.”
The range of RED cameras consists of three types: RED Fixed, RED Mobile, and RED Concrete. “I think in the beginning, customers will start with the temporary solutions like the Mobile and Concrete. When they are happy, the Fixed can come into play for permanent detection. And of course, we can always start with a free trial.”
Being from the south of Spain, Manuel knows that patience is a virtue. “People here are more talkative; they enjoy a good business conversation over a coffee and like to have some fun. But in business, I am very straightforward. I don’t like to waste my time or others’ time.” However, Manuel appreciates a good relationship with customers above everything else.
