Building a sustainable future with Kooi

At Kooi, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact through innovative surveillance solutions. Our camera systems are designed not only to enhance security, but also to minimize energy consumption and support more sustainable operations across various industries. Through continuous innovation and energy-efficient designs, we strive to ensure that safety and sustainability go hand in hand.

Kooi is committed to aligning its climate strategy with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have publicly committed to setting science-based emissions reduction targets in line with the SBTi criteria, consistent with the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C. These targets will cover Scope 1, Scope 2 and material Scope 3 emissions across our value chain and will be developed and submitted within the applicable timeframe of the SBTi framework.

In addition, Kooi has set an internal ambition to achieve zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. Through this combination of science-based target setting, continuous emissions reduction and innovation in cleaner power solutions, Kooi aims to actively contribute to the transition towards a low-carbon economy.

Our road to zero CO2

At Kooi, we care about the planet and everything that lives. So we treat people and materials responsibly. Inspired by innovation and development we want every step to feel right.

Our goal is to have 0% CO2 emissions by 2030. To achieve this, every day 300 employees work united on innovative and sustainable products that make the world a little safer.

Our guiding principle here is the Green Wheel. In 8 steps, we show how we are working toward 2030.

Resources

First of all: our resources. After all, our products have to be made from something. Therefore we use high-quality Bluemint steel which can save up to 64% CO2 in production.

Production

Our innovative production processes meet the highest standards of safety, social responsibility, and sustainability. About 20 UFO’s a week are produced in a SROI-workshop

Our green products

Our camera systems work 24/7 to monitor and prevent vandalism, theft or fire. Innovative technology ensures that the systems only switch when the UFO requests it.

Logistics

We found out that a UFO travels an average of 6000 kilometers during its useful life. We use strategically located storage locations for efficient transport.

Service

Our Powerboxes are fueled with HVO100. This can save more than 98% CO2 emissions. Very clean fuels Methanol and Hydrogen will become the standard fuel for field systems soon.

Maintenance

Over 80% of the maintenance on our 8000+ systems in the field is done remotely which saves us travel miles. Only 7 mechanics are needed across Europe!

End-of-life

More than 75% of the used electronics in our camera systems is recycled and more than 85% of our solar panels is used for new resources.
