Fruitful collaboration Kooi and CJR Renewables in Romanian solar and wind projects

According to the National Energy and Climate Plan Romania submitted recently to the EU, 55,8% of its electricity will come form renewable sources in 2030. Slowly but surely former mining areas and coal-fired power plants will be converted into sites for renewable energy generation, such as three photovoltaic solar plants with a total of 318 MegaWatt CJR Renewables is now creating.

Partnership 

Project manager Nuno Lima (left on the photo) is responsible for the smooth sailing of the two operations. Security is also included here and CJR and Kooi Camera Surveillance have found each other in this. “I had seen the camera systems of Kooi at other sites. So I learned about the company and its products already,” Lima states. “Last year I contacted sales manager Jelle van Tol to talk about a partnership. The communication is super good.”

Combined solution

Now the Units For Observation (called UFOs) are securing the construction site. The UFO Medium lends itself perfectly to secure large and complex sites in vast and remote locations. The systems are part of a total security plan. Lima: “We have manguards and cameras on the lookout with the focus on the storage areas. It’s a combined solution of two CCTV-systems including the UFOs of Kooi combined with manguards. So the guards are working together with the cameras.”

Meeting expectations 

On the project site the UFOs are guarding the storage on the compound and the fencing. During the past holidays, when everyone was celebrating Christmas, the amount of camera systems was temporarily expanded so keep the site secure at all times. For Lima the UFO clearly meets expectations. “I think the camera system is very practical and quick to install. It’s plug and play. I also like the power system that’s quite optimized after you fill it with HVO100 fuel. The battery lasts a long time so we don’t need to worry about that.”

No incidents 

Via the special 24/7 Kooi App Lima receives daily notifications about what has happened the day before. The Live view-option assures 24/7 live video footage so Lima can follow project progress from home. “Right now the cameras are following the mechanical work like the iron stretchers and the solar panels. So far we haven’t had any incidents like theft or vandalism. So we are good.”

Continue partnership

With dozens of renewable onshore and offshore energy projects on the rise, Romania is a country to be reckoned with in the coming years. Although CJR has already installed more than 1296.2 MegaWatts of wind and solar power projects in Romania, there’s clearly more to come. Lima: “I will continue the partnership with Kooi because it’s working well. The feeling is good and mutual so now it’s important to keep it that way too.”
