As Group Logistics Coordinator, Irma Riemersma is responsible for optimal fleet management of UFOs and REDs within Kooi. In a rapidly growing company like Kooi, with more and more locations across Europe, this is no mean feat. "Colleagues often say: how nice that you always stay so calm!"
From headquarters in Drachten, Irma, together with colleague Emily, keeps an overview of the logistics operation within Kooi. Where are the UFOs located? Is there sufficient stock? Which systems need service this week? "I started as a planner for several pillars such as International and Benelux," Irma explains. "But now we look as a whole at what the planners need and how we can serve see in this."
Daily contact
The challenge here is to keep everyone happy and on time with the right products. "We switch a lot with our maintenance location in Wolvega where all our systems are checked and prepared for transport." On a typical working day, Irma therefore has most contact with colleagues at Koster in Wolvega and the planners at home and abroad. Irma on the latter group: "They also give us input on what exactly is needed. A lot happens ad hoc so there are also daily consultations. The depots and hubs we have in Europe have to be well stocked with products in order to deliver them quickly to the customer."
Continuous puzzling
In this daily pandemonium, Irma feels like a fish out of water. "It is a constant puzzle to have enough products around for everyone. Especially when there is a product scarcity. I like it when, at the end of the week, it all works out again.
Enthusiastic
And to think that this logistics jack-of-all-trades originally studied communications. It wasn't until Irma took on planning at a client's site as an intercedent at an employment agency that she became enthusiastic. "I focused on staff deployment and that went well for me," she says. Eventually, a vacancy in Logistics Planner at Kooi caught her eye. "I didn't know if it was for me because it was a different kind of planning after all, but from day one I really liked it."

Stress-resistant
By now, Irma knows that a medium-sized company like Kooi fits like a glove. And the challenges are definitely no less. "I can totally express my qualities here. Personally, I am very calm by nature and I like to keep things clear. People sometimes say: 'How nice that you stay so calm'. So feel free to call me stress resistant haha."
No number
Despite the hectic pace of everyday life, Kooi remains a convivial company. No wonder Irma felt a click from day one. And that click is still there today. "I am not a number here and am appreciated for what I do and who I am," she says. She therefore has a tip for enthusiastic jobseekers. "Join Kooi. A lot is changing in a short time which means there are plenty of opportunities to grab!"'
