Since December 1, Cornelis van Dijk has strengthened Kooi’s team as Manager Fleet Operations. From the headquarters in Drachten, he is responsible for the entire fleet not only in the Netherlands, but internationally as well. “What appeals to me is that Kooi is constantly moving forward. That suits me.”
Cornelis (27) studied Technical Business Administration at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and gained extensive experience in the industrial sector after graduating. However, he realized he was ready for something different. “I was looking for an organization that wants to move forward and continue developing. At Kooi, you see growth, international expansion and constant movement. That makes it challenging.”
From industry to international security
It is precisely that international dynamic that appeals to him the most. “We manage systems in multiple countries. It doesn’t stop at the border. The international character and the speed at which the organization is growing make the work interesting.”
Always moving forward
Cornelis’ team consists of four support colleagues at the office, along with service engineers in the Netherlands, Germany and France. When a system reports a malfunction, the notification is received by his team. “We analyze the issue and act immediately. Sometimes we resolve it remotely; other times, we send an engineer into the field.” In addition, the team supports project managers in resolving smaller technical issues remotely.
Continuous improvement is also a key focus. “Together with project management, we have established new agreements to ensure that expectations are clear for everyone. Structure is essential, especially in a growing organization.”

Invisible work, visible impact
What makes his work special?
“We don’t just deliver individual products; we deliver a complete service. Clients hire us for safety. If a system fails and we do not intervene in time, we miss the very reason we were hired. That sense of responsibility is significant — and justified.”
That responsibility gives meaning to his work. Although much of what they do may not always be visible, the impact is substantial.
Small teams, strong commitment
“Teams here are structured in a way that allows for real collaboration,” he explains. “You’re not just a number. Everyone contributes, and you can see that people are truly committed to what they do.”
He sees that commitment reflected daily, both within his team and across departments. Together, they ensure systems remain operational and that clients can rely on Kooi’s service.
Outside of work
Outside of work, Cornelis does not sit still. He enjoys mountain biking, working out, renovating his home and working on cars. Staying active suits him — just like working in an organization that is constantly evolving.
A tip for future colleagues
“At Kooi, you can move in many different directions. Whether you’re technical, organizational or analytical, there are plenty of opportunities. It’s an organization that keeps moving forward. And if you want that too, you’ll fit right in.”
