‘Despite fierce competition, we remain confident in our strength’

Meet Steven Moulin, the energetic Sales Manager for Wind Energy at Kooi France. With his name, he jokes, he was destined to work in the wind sector. “With my surname, I was destined to be in sales for the wind energy market,” he smiles.

As an expert in mobile camera surveillance, Steven has helped Kooi build a strong reputation in France, especially in the wind industry where customer loyalty is high. “Kooi stands out for its quality products, reliable service, and personal approach,” he says. “Even in a competitive market, we stay confident in our strength.”

Steven has visited his clients to introduce two new products in the field, the UFO Titan and the Green Energy Box. The Titan is a Unit For Observation with integrated solar panels. Perfect for remote construction sites. And the Green Energy Box is the sustainable solution with a methanol fuel cell that allows the camera to be continuously powered, even in remote locations where access to the grid is limited. “We already see that our clients like the Green Energy Box very much. The CO2 emissions are very low and they barely need to refuel the Box,” says Steven.It’s going to be our new bestseller.”

Expert in wind energy

With dynamic and varied work, Steven feels like a fish out of water. And to think he was a staff official three years ago. I lived in Canada where I was in human resources,” he says. “I did job interviews and stuff. But sales is far more adventurous so I switched to sales and ended up at Kooi France.” Rapidly Steven became expert in the wind industry where he now helps to secure sustainable projects in the construction phase. “It’s a small sector and there are not many companies in France while we have a lot of space for wind parks. Two years ago the market for wind parks was big thanks to extra funds but now it’s kind of low. Still I believe there’s a good market for wind energy in France,” Steven analyzes.

Identify the customers’ needs

As mentioned, every working day looks different. Steven visits customers on site and identifies their needs or makes implementation plans where to position the cameras best on the site. He also makes quotations, manages price negotiations and visits exhibitions to meet new people or to socialize with current clients. Never a dull moment for Steven. “I like to meet different persons in different parts of France. We need to know the companies and wind sectors. I like to identify the customers’ needs to secure their site.

Daily reports

Real satisfaction Steven gets when the UFO’s show their power in full glory and intruders are caught on site and theft or vandalism are prevented. Steven: “Every day I read the daily reports of what happened at our clients’ sites. As I see a video of thieves running away after the centralists of our Alarm Center played the alarm, it gives me a good feeling. When the customer later asks us to secure a new project as well, then we have done a good job.

Confident in strength

Kooi France is active since 2018. After Germany France became the second country where the originally Dutch company Kooi set foot on. Although Kooi is now European market leader in mobile camera surveillance, the competition is still fierce. “But we stay confident in our strength,” Steven says combatively. “We have grown fast thanks to our strong points: the Kooi Alarm Center (KAC) in Brittany, the quality of our products and service and a dedicated project manager for each customer.

Customer loyalty

Now, Kooi France has more than 600 UFO’s in the field and enjoys a good reputation, especially in the wind sector. And customers are increasingly showing loyalty. Maybe it has something to do with the handy 24/7 Kooi app every customer uses. “It’s a very important tool for clients,” Steven admits. “You can see the reports, add working hours and use live view to see what’s happening on the project.”

All in all interesting times for a young sales manager. Steven: “Kooi is an ambitious company where you can make a difference. The company gave me the chance to start as a sales manager and has made me confident to grow on the job. Therefore I am truly grateful. I can only say that we are a true specialist with a quality product. I think we are the best in product and service.”
