Every day, our technology protects thousands of sites across Europe — construction sites, wind and solar farms, waste and recycling facilities, and other locations where downtime, damage, vandalism, or fire can have significant consequences.
What started in Friesland has grown into a European market leader.

And we're far from finished.

That's why we're looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to help shape the next phase of Kooi's growth alongside our executive board.


About Kooi

Kooi is a Dutch company and a specialist in temporary mobile camera surveillance and fire detection solutions. With more than 450 colleagues, we work every day towards one mission: making locations safer through smart technology. Operating in 25 European countries, Kooi protects construction sites, wind and solar farms, and waste and recycling facilities with more than 10,000 active surveillance units every day.

Using our proprietary systems, including the Unit For Observation (UFO) and Rising Early Detection (RED), combined with our own alarm monitoring centers in the Netherlands, Germany, and France, we provide 24/7 monitoring and protection.
Our growth ambitions are significant, and the CTO will play a key role in achieving them.


Your Role

As CTO, you will be responsible for the technological direction and performance of Kooi Group and will be a member of the Executive Board alongside the CEO, CFO, COO, and CBO.

At Kooi, we do not believe in decisions being made by one individual. We determine our course together, challenge each other constructively, and ensure broad support before moving forward.

Drawing on your expertise, you will translate the company's strategy into a future-proof technology and innovation agenda. You will look beyond systems and processes alone, understanding that technology is ultimately about people: colleagues who work with it, customers who rely on it, and teams that build the solutions of tomorrow.

You will act as the connecting link between business, technology, and innovation. By bringing together different perspectives, creating enthusiasm for change, and translating ideas into tangible results, you will contribute directly to growth, scalability, and customer value.

In addition, you will lead our IT, Product Development, and R&D teams (approximately 30 FTE). You will build strong teams, develop talent, and create an environment where people take ownership, collaborate effectively, and perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

As CTO, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing the technology strategy in line with Kooi's growth ambitions.
  • Creating an ambitious roadmap for infrastructure, applications, data, cybersecurity, and product innovation.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Initiating and leading technological and organizational transformation programs within an international environment.
  • Ensuring robust IT architecture, cybersecurity, and business continuity.
  • Connecting business objectives, technology initiatives, and external partners.
  • Taking ownership of the technology budget, making deliberate investment decisions, balancing return on investment with the need to accelerate growth.

  • At least 5–10 years of experience in a comparable executive technology leadership role.
  • Proven experience in developing technology and IT strategies, as well as leading digital transformation and innovation programs within a growing organization.

  • International experience and excellent command of the English language.
  • A strong combination of strategic vision and hands-on execution capability.
